The Arnel Pineda Era

Here is the new lead singer for Journey, Arnel Pineda, in the group's most recent concert in Chile.

I have chronicled this band's struggle to find a lead singer since the departure of Steve Perry. I guess this is no longer an issue, as Pineda has a wonderful voice and instantly becomes the youngest member of the band. On the other hand, he is still a replacement of a replacement for a group that has become its own cover band.

If they are truly going to take a "new" path in the hiring of Pineda, the group needs to actually produce new songs, assuming there are any and that anyone would want to listen. Still, it beats listening to Fergie or that 47 year old who won American Idol a couple of years ago.

Arnel Pineda has a good voice. Some people are just negative towards him because of his race. I agree with his hiring. GOOD JOB PARE.

I agree. Pineda's voice is truly amazing. I remember watching some of his performances on youtube this last year, singing with his band The Zoo, and thinking about how incredible of a vocalist he was. I obviously wasn't the only one who felt this way. As for the critics, sadly, there are those who do not like him because he is Asian, but there are also those die hard fans who cannot accept anyone but Steve Perry as the lead singer, regardless of who else is singing. It's too bad because they don't know what they're missing. I hope they cut some new material with Arnel.

yEah...Journey 2008 must do some homework writing new songs not reviving old copied PVC craps...they have a front vocal talented enough to nail something good. A voice talent flexible enough to do from ballads to rock...
